Bill Hutchison is a business leader in the IT, telecommunications and media industries, with a career focused on the successful restructuring of companies for growth of 200% to 300% over three-year periods in Europe, Asia and North America.

Today Bill has his own consulting practice, chairs Waterfront Toronto’s i-Waterfront Advisory Council, and leads Waterfront Toronto’s Intelligent Communities initiatives to create one of the world’s leading Intelligent Communities as part of the $30 billion revitalization of Toronto’s central waterfront.

Hailed in 2006 by a panel of business and technology editors as “One of Canada’s Top 30 Movers and Shakers over the Past 30 years”, Bill has been a global leader in creating new national and local economic development initiatives focused on the new technologies. In 2008 RealComm, the world’s leading real estate technology publishing and conferencing firm named him “One of the Top 35 Global Real Estate Technology Executives to watch in 2009”.

He was the founding vice-chair of the National Advisory Board for Science and Technology, chaired by the Prime Minister of Canada, and he was the founding chair of CANARIE Inc., which for the past sixteen years has led the development of Canada’s world-renowned advanced ultra broadband Internet research and education infrastructure.

Bill advised the Hong Kong government on the creation of Hong Kong’s celebrated Cyberport and he established the first American owned technology centre in Malaysia’s Multi Media Super Corridor, one of the world’s largest infrastructure developments in the late ‘90s.

Bill’s vast experience also includes being the founding chair or director of several public initiatives, as well as serving as the chair, board director or senior executive for numerous companies, and founding several of his own companies, all in the IT, media and telecommunications industry.

In recognition of his contributions and achievements, Bill received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Intelligent Community Forum in New York.
