Despite jurisdictional and budget challenges, Kinsa has trained law enforcement officers and prosecutors from 10 countries. Following are some of our recent training successes.
Eight police officers from the National Police Services in Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia travelled to Toronto for Kinsa training and to discuss Kinsa’s ongoing efforts to build capacity in Africa. Alfred Nawa, Assistant Commissioner for the Zambia Police Service said
“The development and speed at which the Internet is growing has developed quickly. Child pornography has evolved to the point where a number of people have become experts with computers and they’re downloading these materials. We as police officers don’t have the materials to track them, and we’re afraid this is going to grow bigger. The Kinsa training that we have received will allow us to help us fight this problem with cutting edge solutions and I look forward to implementing these techniques in Zambia.”
Eleven senior police officers from the South African Police Service and prosecutors from the National Prosecuting Authority's Sexual Offenses and Community Affairs Unit travel to Toronto for Kinsa training. The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit subsequently asks Kinsa to assist with the development and implementation of a program in South Africa that will train up to 1,000 people within two years.
