Two Children Found and Rescued

A cheer went through the office when we got the news: 35 people arrested, with 122 charges laid in an Ontario-wide child pornography bust this week.  And two children were rescued from unspeakable abuse. Click here to read the full story.

The cheers were short lived though, as the reality of the problem circled back to us.  Two children were rescued this week, but more than 50,000 are still unidentified, with millions of images of their abuse circulating on the Internet.

The arrest this week was just a drop in the bucket when you look at the magnitude of the problem globally.  At the same time it's a testament to the importance of coordinated investigations between law enforcement agencies.   The Internet has provided a real opportunity to identify and rescue children whose abuse has been recorded and shared online.  But this means that law enforcement agencies need new technological and investigative resources, and they need to work together to fight this global and border-less crime against children.

This is what the Kinsa International Law Enforcement Training program was built on.  And it's making a difference, slowly but surely.

Kinsa works with Canadian law enforcement agencies to deliver training and capacity building to police from low and middle income countries, so they are better able to conduct online investigations and help rescue children from abuse around the world.  Kinsa alumni have been involved in investigations around the world, including some here in Canada.  As we train more police, more investigations are conducted.  And that means more children are identified and rescued.  But we still have a long way to go.

Support Kinsa to help find, rescue and heal child victims of abuse whose images are shared online.
