Mayor Brenda Halloran has continually worked to better her community. After earning her diploma at Conestoga College, she began her career as a Registered Nurse. From there, she graduated from Waterloo’s Conrad Grebel College with a certificate in conflict resolution. In December 2006, she became Mayor of the City of Waterloo.
The list of accomplishments Mayor Halloran had achieved prior to assuming office, however, are many. She was the recipient of the Wilfrid Laurier University Woman of Resistance Award, was co-valedictorian of her Leadership Waterloo Region Class, and received the CCRA Award of Excellence. She has also been nominated for the KW Oktoberfest Women of the Year Award in the Community Service category. She has been featured in Chatelaine Magazine, Most Magazine, Top Notch 2008, and The Real Women Magazine.
Her belief in transformative and collaborative leadership is what makes her stand out as a leader in this community. She is very much a doer and has a gift for seeing the big picture and how to pull everyone together.
